Leave Tracking: Overview

What the Leave Tracking module does: requesting, approving and tracking employee time off (vacation, sick days and the other leave types you define) from the Leave Requests card, and where to start.

What the Leave Tracking module does

The Leave Tracking module, reached from the Leave Requests card, handles requesting, approving and tracking employee time off. An Administrator sets it up first; see Leave Request Initial Setup. The types of leave on offer (vacation, sick days and so on) are Labour Cost Items you create yourself. What the module does for a company is on the Leave Tracking product page; these pages are how to use it.

Key Concepts

The module’s main parts:

  • Leave Requests: Employees submit leave requests to get approval for time off. Each request includes the type of leave, the dates, and a description.

  • Approval Workflow: a submitted request goes to the employee’s Leave Manager, who is notified by email and approves it, rejects it or sends it back for changes.

  • Leave Request List: The list is where you find requests once they exist. It opens from Explore on the Leave Requests card and carries up to seven saved views (four for the people who approve leave, and three that hold your own requests), so a manager and a technician both work from the same screen. See Leave Requests.

  • Leave Request Report: a grid of every leave request in the company, for Managers and Administrators. It sorts, filters and exports to Excel; see Leave Request Report.

  • Company Calendar: The Company Calendar shows all approved leave across the company, so managers and administrators can see who is out of the office when they plan and schedule work.
